for those of you who thinks iggy's restaurant sounds like a freak low-class restaurant, think again..
Newsflash: Three Singapore restaurants in this year’s Top 100 World’s Best RestaurantsRestaurant magazine’s annual World’s Best Restaurants list has named three local restaurants in its Top 100 list, making waves on the culinary scene here. Modern Chinese restaurant My Humble House by Tung Lok Group is 94th, French fine-dining restaurant Les Amis sailed in at 83rd and the European-fusion restaurant Iggy’s nailed the 60th spot. It is an especially significant feat for all three eateries as My Humble House and Les Amis were previously unranked, while Iggy’s was ranked 98th on the same list last year. It is even more remarkable considering that no other South East Asian country is on the list.
As Raymond Lim, spokesperson for Les Amis puts it; "We are pleasantly surprised because it’s a coup not just for the three Singaporean restaurants but more importantly for Singapore’s own branding as a cosmopolitan city. The world now knows that Singapore is more than a hawker food paradise, and that we have restaurants that can rival the best in the world." Looks like our tiny island is well on its way to becoming a foodie paradise of sorts!
